Due to its geographical location Anatolia becomes the scene of encounters between the Persians and the Greeks, and facilitates the cultural blending of these eastern and western civilizations. Many new customs and practices are introduced into Anatolia with the Persians - Zoroastrianism, satrapal governance, the Royal Road, and the first postal service, to name a few - which synthesizes with the local cultural elements.
